Slikhelvetika comes out of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area and brings their new hard rock style to the masses. “War Machine” starts things off with a rocking tune that reminded me vocally of UDO. Their music brings back the good old days of hard rock - not in the glam genre - but more in the vein of Keel and Accept.
The guitar work is good but not over the edge ala YNGWIE. “High on you” tries to pull off an AC/dc “Hells Bells” type of feel with Myers' vocals sounding a bit like Brian Johnson. Nearing the middle of the song Myers changes his vocal style to sound more like Vince Neal which I really liked. “September” slows thing down with a melodic acoustic guitar that gives that touch of classic to SLIKELVETIKA.
As I listened to SLIKHELVETIKA, I felt thatthe music was good. The vocals are also decent, but it is just missing that one unknown “X element” that would make the band special. This is not necessarily a bad thing. In the future, they just have to find that one special element that will make the band explode.
