Canadian rockers SONIC Xjust released their second full-length CD called “Thirteen” with their melodic over tones and raw sound this should draw comparisons to bands like ALICE IN CHAINS or VELVET REVOLVER and yet still holding the youth movement of SKID ROW.

For myself I had to back track on the disc a few times to get the full vibe of how good these boys are. “Crawl” is a good opening track but track-two “Wicked” is total amazing, with the Axel Rose background vocals creeping up the scale and lead vocalist Adam Troy caressing each note you can’t help being drawn to this song. Check the guitar work by Lawrence Falcomer, tasty isn’t it.

“Seeds of Thunder” could be the breakout track on “Thirteen”, in the vein of BON JOVI, SONIC X takes “Seeds of Thunder” to another level with a barrage of talented musician making their presence as Adam opens his heart. The music that drives “Seeds” runs a variety of directions but all seems to end up being in the right place, the higher level. Great tune!!!

It doesn’t stop there “Evident” cuts right into the vein of hard rock with Lawrence’s accelerating guitar and the soft whispers of Adam vocals molding your imagination makes “Evident” another killer tune. There is so much to offer and 99% of “Thirteen” could be an AOR tune.

Even “Shine” has a country style theme and could jump genre’s, so there is endless opportunities for “Thirteen” to reach greatness. I love the changing rotation of the tracking which is hard-hitting, from soft melodic, to just pleasure in all aspects. There’s something for everyone on “Thirteen” and Chavis Record hit gold with this one.

You gotta check the guitar wizard Lawrence Falcomer on “Breathe”, another hit. I can’t make up my mind what song is highlighted. I love the searing guitar and the strong vocals and harmonies on “Breathe,” so my bet is “Breathe.”
