Strikelight is a young band from Greece and this is their debut album. Their sound is totally dedicated to the sound of the NWOBHM especially Iron Maiden. From the first track, “Born by Fire” (Instrumental) to the last track full of screaming vocals, “Strikelight,” you can hear the heavy influence of British metal bands from the early 80's. For the first three tracks, the Maiden influence is prominent just by hearing the bass and guitar riffs. Then on the forth track, ”Inner Voice”, Strikelight takes a more commercial turn sounding more like UFO's “Doctor, Doctor”. Then by track five, ”Undying Love,” which is the ballad on the album, the band starts to take a form of it's own. The next few tracks have more of an early Anthrax feel which is great.
The band itself is really professional seeing that they are all in their late teens. The singer George Stavropoulos kind of starts off rusty on the second track but as the CD goes on you can notice that he really gets much better, with his screams and with his midrange singing.
Please check out this band because they truly have a huge set of balls to come out with this kind of music in a time that pop and rap rule the world. I just hope that they can come to tour the U.S. and spread their awesome metal throughout America .
