Modus Vivendi is my first introduction to the Swedish power metal band, Tad Morose. The CD is a mix of power metal, with a dark feel, but also keeping a traditional sense of what heavy metal is about while also mixing in a modern feel. The first song off the album, “Anubis,” begins with a riff similar to Rainbow's “Gates of Babylon.” The second track, “No Mercy"'s verse sounds like WASP's “Love Machine,” is a catchy but also heavy song. There are two main problems that I see with this record. Throughout the CD, most of the songs begin to sound the same, meaning that every beginning of the songs has an identical riff. The second problem is that the production is very muddy and bass heavy. Besides that, the album is a good buy and nice listen.

Be sure to catch Tad Morose as they headline this year's Chicago Powerfest, April 8th and 9th.
