Lisbon, Portugal land of our former webmaster Carlos Rodrigues and home of UBRAN TALES an energy bound metal band signed to Burning-Star records. This will be the band’s full-length debut release since their demo last year, (that got favorable reviews) and it should be a step forward in the climb to success.

I’m really a stickler for great vocals and Marcos does an outstanding job caressing each note as he brings URBAN TALES to a whole ‘nother level; The opening track “Prison Inside” Marcos pours out heart and soul on a quivering pronunciation of an emotional tune. Sérgio Osório guitar work is melodic yet screams for attention at the perfect breaks in the song. What an opening tune!

One of the major issues in the world these days in HIV, and “In Purity” is the official Worlds day Fight against HIV. The hard-edged song is also their first video, which is included in the special digi-pack issue of “Diary of A No”.

I get emotional when spinning the disc. UBRAN TALES puts forth such emotion (soul, essence, being etc.,) in each song, giving the songs more meaning and the lyrics tell the story and the music that accompanies is uplifting and sets your emotions on fire.

Check out the song “You’ll Never Know” the hair stands up on the back of my neck. The song starts off with a short narration between a guy and a girl that would bring down tears from even the hardest person. URBAN TALES is reminiscent of HIM except URBAN TALES is comprised of better musicians.

One of the highlight tracks has to be “Crawl” that possesses killer guitar by Osório who goes off and the drumming by Tiago Alpendre slashes the midsection with bassist João Matias thumping the strings.

URBAN TALES is sure to make the jump into the big time with “Diary of A No” and Burning-Star records have a gem on their hands.
