DOKKEN fans unite!... because this one's for you! Whether you're a fan of old DOKKEN, new, or somewhere in between, the last solo effort from Jeff Pilson's WAR & PEACE entitled “The Walls Have Eyes” has it all.

With the exception of one guitar solo and percussion, the album was solely written, performed, produced, and even mixed by Jeff Pilson alone and, might I add, for his first venture doing all this… it turned out pretty damn good! For those of you who didn't think Jeff Pilson's talents extended past being just an incredible bass player, one listen to “The Walls Have Eyes” will prove you wrong once and for all.

Tracks like “Rock And Roll Breakdown,” “The Line In The Sand,” “The Shell,” and one of my favorite tracks, “Stranger In My Own Land,” which was written shortly after 9/11 about the travesty, stay true to his roots and almost sound like they could have been outtakes from “Tooth & Nail” or “Under Lock And Key”... but still have a very modern hook to them without compromising the essence of the music itself. Other tracks like “Reflections,” “City In Flames,” and the title track, ”The Walls Have Eyes,” are comparable to the “Dysfunctional” era… only a bit better arranged and composed. “You Haunt Me” is another track worth mentioning as it is one of the slower more moody tracks and really showcases Pilson's originality. Although it may sound like it's in the same vein as DOKKEN, tracks like this set WAR & PEACE apart.

“The Walls Have Eyes” definitely stays true to that unique DOKKEN style which is what set them apart from all the other “hair metal” bands of the time... but then again, although they may have tried to “look the part” from time to time, they never really were. Great production, great lyrics and guitar work, and overall, just great music is what DOKKEN was all about and that stand-alone style continues on with WAR & PEACE.
