LA’s WHITE WIZZARD has always been a band true to their genre and it’s no different with their new release “The Devil’s Cut” (release date June 25 in the USA via Century Media Records/Earache Records). If you haven't heard about these guys they’ve been around since 2008 releasing two prior E.P.’s and two full length's, “Over The Top” (2010) and “Flying Tigers” (2011),

The Devil’s Cut” starts off in high fashion with “Forging The Steel” an instrumental that bellows the great JUDAS PRIEST meets IRON MAIDEN. Track two “Strike The Iron” is masterful in its directness of true metal with horns up. Vocally Joseph Michael is stunning, sounding a bit like Michael Sweet of STRYPER. This guy has amazing pipes and the song brings a great heavy tone like MANOWAR with drummer Giovanni Durst standing tall behind the kit.

“Kings Of The Highway” brings the melodic side of WHITE WIZZARD. The song flows smoothly with the lead guitar work shredding by any of the three guitarists Jon Leon, Jake Dreyer and Will Wallner.

IRON MAIDEN runs through the veins of WHITE WIZZARD as “Lightning In My Hand” has that killer feel of vintage MAIDEN. WHITE WIZZARD can show you what the sound was like back in the day with “The Devil’s Cut”. These guys would have been superstars back in the day and at present you have the chance to reap the benefit of a full package band that will revitalize that classic sound in a modern light. Killer guitars, pummeling bass lines, amazing drums and a vocalist that reaches the heavens.

“Steal Your Mind” a power ballad that slows things down a bit but still has that crunch to make an impact in the metal world. Three quarters through the track the song hits a fast pace with more incredible guitar work. The title track “The Devil’s Cut” starts off with heavy drums and bass lines that set the mood for a very different and versatile raw song.

“Torpedo Of Truth” is another classic song but what holds the song is the chorus that fans will be singing along to.  The shredding guitar work is to perfect and guitar fans will adore a new GOD!

“The Sun Also Rises” ends the disc with Joseph Michael’s vocals truly shining. The song is melodic and a bit slower but really shows diversity. The fluttering guitar work is remarkable as the disc ends on a fast pace.

The Devil’s Cut is a phenomenal release by White Wizzard that metal fans have been waiting for and has the adrenaline rush of past greats.
