In the darkness of night comes an eerie feeling of evil. Looking at the black and white cover picture of the new Eventide demo they have a young woman with a mask on kneeling in the corner. As you open the jewel case, you find the mask off the woman and the look of deception. Eventide is an underground band with evil overtones. Their music is highly touted and by the first track “No Place Darker,” you would think the band is a melodic power metal band. This is where the deception comes in. Eventide uses duel style vocals by Jacob, which I like.

The band is dark with demonic vocals yet giving way to sensational melodic vocals. The music has a different vibe compared to the traditional death metal sound. “My Closest Demon” really changes the mood going from stool toting Cat Stevens into harsh ripping corpse death metal. This is a great new start for Eventide and I can’t wait for the full-length release.
