Mexico is not just the land of the mariachi. Check out this spicy gothic metal band called KOBOLD. The opening track is an instrumental intro that will have you wondering what Sofia’s voice will be like when she starts to accompany this type of music.

The intro is really good with some great guitar riffs and eerie keyboards. Track-two “Tu Presencia” starts off with a keyboard melody that would be prefect for a thriller movie, and then the heavenly voice of Sofia enters. You can’t underestimate the talent in this band. The song is very mellow with a haunting feel and I like the keyboards on this song.

The final track “El Vuelo del Dragón” is much heavier in the gothic power metal genre. The guitars and keyboards mix well like the sound of a horse galloping.

All three tracks are good and the band has real potential. Look for their full length CD by the end of the year.
