Now here is a writer that writes for the passion of the art and for his endless love of rock/metal music. “All Pens Blazing” Vol. 1 and 2 are available on paperback, ebook, authorsonline.co.uk and Amazon.com. Neil Daniels has written books on JUDAS PRIEST, Robert Plant, BON JOVI and several more.
“All Pens Blazing” is done in a “Q & A” format. What makes this read an interesting one, is the fact that all of the questions asked by Mr. Daniels are answered by other authors that have been in music journalism over the past four decades. So it is formatted in “interview” style. A writer interviewing other writers in the same genre makes this a unique compilation of questions and answers from some of the best journalist’s in the business.
People who have written for Kerrang, Rolling Stone and CREEM magazine’s just to name a few. These chronicles include names like Phil Alexander, Steve Beebee, Alan Burridge, Gerri Miller, Neil Perry the list goes on. It’s endless interesting, behind the scenes interviews with some of the best rock journalists. The book details each journalists own personal experiences with the musicians they have interviewed. Who they thought seemed the most interesting, the most boring and the most obnoxious people in the business. It also included how these writers got their start and what their current writing status is. It’s very encouraging to anyone who may be trying to become a published writer/author to read about the struggles and the jumping through hoops these journalists had to go through to make a name for themselves.
There is one common denominator in this publication, rock/metal music!! So if you like to read and you like music this publication is for you. Mr. Daniels often asks his interviewees who they enjoyed interviewing the most and Lemmy Kilmister and Ronnie James Dio came up quite often. No surprise there. Some of the most obnoxious names did come as a surprise to me. “All Pens Blazing” is a must read to find out the trials and tribulations these writers had to go through. Good, bad or indifferent, it’s a real behind the scenes collection of interviews that go all the way back to the late 70’s to present day.
I strongly suggest getting your own copies of both volumes of “All Pens Blazing”. I was so intrigued that I read it twice. Neil Daniels also has several other publications out that are available which include “Don’t Stop Believin’:” The Untold Story of JOURNEY which came out this year.
Great read, Neil Daniels is a dynamic writer and writes about what we all love, MUSIC!!
