Last we heard from Eidolon was three years ago. Not a word from their camp has been obtained until now. Well the tide has turned and they are back, they have regrouped with a slight twist -- Glen and Shawn Drover will continue their endeavors with Megadeth and will consider Eidolon as a side project, but that is not all, welcome new vocalist Nils Rue of Pagan’s Mind. Nils possesses a vocal range much better than former vocalist Brian Soulard possessed; and with Nil’s imagery it brings a whole new essence to the band.
The magic behind the band has to be the earth shattering guitar work of Glen Drover, shredding his way through hardcore to melodic riffs. Some of the tunes are lengthy but still hold their edge. One of my favorite tunes is “Ghost World” that starts off slow and in the distance you here Drover making his move one minute and thirty second into the tune-- destruction and annihilation take over, the mix of pulsation pounds chords almost in the vein of Accept meets Megadeth churning up the volume. I think power metal fans will take to Nils as his vocals are on the style of Geoff Tate and Lance King.
“The Parallel Otherworld” is more of a thrash power metal release and I am sure fans will rejoice over the more productive sound. The last track “The Oath” is eerie with demonic overtone to the keyboards and it should be because it’s King Diamond Taste the blood!!!
