Well, I guess Pete Steele of Type O Negative will now have some competition with the vocal style of Michelle Darkness. End of Green can’t be placed in any one genre of music as they play all different styles from rock, aggressive, gothic and even sleaze metal.
“Dead End Hero” is one of those songs you’re not sure what the next turn will be. One minute it’s slow, the next minute it’s pop and then the next it’s crunching down on your backbone. Oddly enough, Michelle does not show his dark voice throughout the entire CD but only at certain points. Otherwise he has great range as he changes from melody to melody.
“Cure My Pain” is such a great song that it literally rings up dollar signs and makes your mind wander while the guitar is rocking in and out. End of Green just explodes on “Drink Myself to Sleep” and this is the highlight track on “Dead End Dreaming”.
Many of the songs on the new release are good but nothing like “Drink Myself to Sleep” which blows the other tracks out of the water.
