Excalion will release their debut CD this month, “Primal Exhale,” on Sound Riot Records. The band was founded in 2000 and hails from Finland. Excalion is not just another generic sounding European power metal band. These boys bring a symphony to the ears.

Track-two “A Moment in the Spotlight” is just a high classic tune which will bring vocalist Jarmo Pääkkönen notoriety. Just the balance of the keyboards with the soothing vocals and catchy lyrics will make this song the band’s Anthem. The production of the new release is fantastic as the power pumps from track to track. “Dire Waters” is a killer track almost in the style of a power metal Metallica.

This band will be unstoppable once the CD is released. The vocals by Jarmo Pääkkönen are amazing as he reaches the high notes with ease. The music and arrangements on the keyboards are fine tuned by ``Jappe``. “Heart & Home” is a ballad showing the bands softer side with the acoustic guitar strumming which still maintains that Excalion vibe.

The sound of Excalion is a cross between Stratovarius and Symphony X with a high-potency vocalist. The last track is “Obsession to Prosper” keyboards and drums with running guitar just pounding away starts this song off, which is seven minutes and fifty-six seconds of pure delight. This CD leaves you with wanting more and I can’t wait to see what the future will hold for EXCALION.
