Recently signed to Germany’s Lifeforce Records, Italy’s FAKE IDOLS was formed from the union of three well-known and recognized European bands in the hard rock/metal genre, who previously released albums on Lifeforce Records by the way. RAINTIME, SLOWMOTION APOCALYYPSE and JAR OF BONES are the bands being referred to. With not knowing many bands coming out of Italy but always willing to give it a listen, I had to check them out.

FAKE IDOLS self-titled release will hit the market worldwide in digital format on April 25th, 2014. As I look at the cover of an Army villain that could terrorize humanity I suspected FAKE IDOLS would be musically harsh sounding but as I sit back and have a chance to listen to the opening tune, “One Way Trip”, my hair blows back and smoke fills my ear as pure metals pleasure fills my headphones. With an opening track that passed the high bar with ecstasy I’m delighted to say this could be something special. “One Way Trip” with the opening tapping guitar riffs and chants of “Hey” will get total crowd participation that will have fans standing with excitement. Really an explosive opening track always is a good thing to start a disc and FAKE IDOLS surpass that mark.

Track two, “My Hero” which features Mia Coldheart of CRUCIFIED BARBARA brings a heavy hand to the song with her raw style vocals. Still with the songwriting of FAKE IDOLS and the suave lyrics the song kicks into high gear.

Track three “Switch” is one of the highlight tracks that move FAKE IDOLS into a top bracket. With hints of the great eighties band KIX and a killer guitar solo the song blows my mind and the levitation of the chorus is an adrenaline rush.

“Push Me Down” claims the anthem spot for these boys from Italy. Hypnotic chorus and lyrics shun the typical anthem style but the key here is the chorus of “push me down”.

“When The Curtain Closes” is another highlight track with slashing dual guitars by Ivan Odorico and Cristian Tavano adorning the  demi-Gods label with vocalist Claudio Coassin owning the thrown. FAKE IDOLS are a breath of fresh air that needs to be heard. The tantalizing guitar work by Odorico and Tavano and the midsection of bassist Ivo Boscariol and drummer Enrico Fabris gives the full package and to top it off vocalist Claudio Coassin shows these boys can become an entity in music if given the chance.

Just think a band that can lay down heavy tracks yet can write a tune like “Far From My Window” that has quality of FOO FIGHTERS. Yeah check it out, it’s amazing.

WOW! Give me some bass Ivo Boscariol and sounds of ALICE IN CHAINS. “No One” brings the sentimental alternative sound of AIC; pure class that FAKE IDOLS bring to the table on this one. Coassin’s vocals are masterful and an outstanding range that will take the band to great heights.

“My Favorite Game” (THE CARDIGANS cover) shows the band do not only shine on their original tunes. FAKE IDOLS step out and do a killer job on this cover tune. Next up “The Prankster” that brings the party aura to the fans. Just a great fun tune to pump up and some kick ass guitar licks.

Need some speed? “All My Memories” is fast-paced but once again the chorus rules. Thrashing guitars, a heavy dose of drums and the sensational voice of Claudio puts FAKE IDOLS on a fast track to the top.

Ending the disc and slowing things down is “The Trap of Promise”. A melodic ballad in the mold of KIX’s “Don't Close Your Eyes” and it will set this phenomenal debut apart from others. Not one filler on the entire disc. Looking to add some pure heaven to your collection check out FAKE IDOLS debut release April 25th.
