Annihilation and conquering the enemy is what the new release “Transgression” by Fear Factory is all about. It will take you on a journey to a different dimension with its melodic hardcore vocals and ripping music. “540,000 Degrees Fahrenheit” is busting at the seams and has all the markings of an anthem. The power four-piece is shredding with their new CD. Christian Olde Wolbers is hitting a peak as he clutches the wooden wrath and beats you down to submission. His ripping guitar work is outstanding on “Transgression” and it will leave you with visions of electric shocks.
Burton C. Bells vocals remind me of a harsh version of Phil Anselmo of Pantera. The new CD puts Fear Factory right up there with Nevermore’s “This Godless Endeavor” as one of the great new releases. I like the changing style of vocals by Bell that has melodic soothing sounds and at times leaving you with brain damage. “Echo My Scream” slows things down still reaching the heights only fear factory can achieve. On “Supernova,” Wolbers must have been listening to The Edge a little, as I hear some hints of U2 on the guitar work on this tune. It just happens that one of the tracks on “Transgression” is called “I Will Follow” (yes, U2 cover). “New Promise” has a dark gothic feel for the first thirty seconds so keep that razor blade put away then all hell breaks loose. Raymond Herrea and Byron Stroud both shine on “Millennium” as the drums and bass get major sound quality on this track that is an asset. “Millennium” is also the track that has the most commercial feel.
Special thanks to Chipster Entertainment.
