Well what can I say when a CD comes along that has poor production and very little talent, but tries hard. “Year of the Rich” is that CD; I LOVE RICH is the band. The CD reminds me of a band that was influenced by early KISS, Judas Priest, and others.
At times Rich tries to sound like Paul Stanley and at times, he succeeds. I Love Rich has many releases to their discography - many independently made. Hey, I guess if they are having fun and not hurting anyone, let it be done. “Year of the Rich” uses basic chords and the guitar chords try to sound like Ace Frehley but does not have a chance in hell to measure up to the master. The CD sounds like it was made in a garage, the kind of the sound quality from the first Kiss LP. “ Makeout City” track-five, tries to sound like Judas Priest “You Got Another Thing Coming” with a Paul Stanley (KISS) vocal style. On track-seven, “What Every Woman Wants,” Rich tries to do his Motley Crue (Knock 'Em Dead Kid) impression.
I give the guy credit to have the balls to do what he loves. I really can’t see anyone going out and buying this CD unless you’re a friend. But you never know because stranger things have happened. Good luck RICH!
