Primal Fear… the name of the band is deceiving to fans of melodic, power metal and the heavy metal genre included. This is the band’s 8th release, their first self-titled release coming in 1998. I always thought the Primal Fear would be a death metal band with heavy growling vocals but let me tell you what a surprise it was when Nuclear Blast sent me their latest release “Seven Seals.”

Primal Fear is over powering in their delivery of some of the best heavy metal to date. The new CD “Seven Seals” knocked me right out of my socks. The energy that pounces throughout the tracks is perfection. The vocals by Ralf Scheepers will keep your attention and remind you of Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, and Sebastian Bach. The passion and expertise will engulf any metal fan if given a chance. It took me this long to find out that Primal Fear is a force of an unearthly nature that will possess your body and make you a head-banger from the first chord of “Demons And Angels.”

“Rollercoaster”… the guitar work is explosive melting chips off the disc. This song rips. Some of the songs have riffs of vintage Priest then giving way to sounds of Loudness from Japan. The killer of all tracks on “Seven Seals” is “Diabolus” a song that will make you an instant admirer of the band. It should be a #1 song on the metal charts. “Diabolus” is phenomenal with melodic lyrics and musicianship that is epic. It could be a soundtrack or will make a great opening or closing song live. It has it all…I can’t say enough about it. You have to get this CD just to hear this song; it will blow your mind. (Excellent)!!! Not taking anything away from the rest of the CD, which is great, you will see that this song stands out as a hit maker. The guitar work by Stefan Leibing and Tom Naumann will put chills down your back as each vertebra fuses together; but don’t worry because the heartbeat of the bass by Mat Sinner will realign them. You got to get this CD by Primal FearSeven Seals” on Nuclear Blast Records.
