You know I have been waiting for this one for awhile. Ever since I heard the title track “Pandeamonium”, I have been drooling from the mouth like getting bit by a rattler. Man, these guys are explosive with pure delight. The excellent vocals of Jan Thore Grefstad puts him in a class of his own. I have many favorite vocalists and have just added Grefstad to that list.
Starting the disc off is a melodic heart pounding blockbuster called “Deception”. Not only do the vocals standout but the musicianship of SAINT DEAMON is phenomenal. You get the best of metal, power metal and a symphonic dream to the ears.
This could go down as my favorite track of the year, the title song “Pandeamonium” has a sentimental vibe yet can drive the nail home. The chorus sends chills down the neck of a parasite and can lift your spirits to a higher power. The searing guitar of Andreas "Toya" Johansson blends perfectly with the midsection of Nobby’s bass and the drums of Ronny Milianowicz.
When first listening to “Eyes of the Devil”, I thought TESTAMENT and a mosh pit, well, until Grefstad started singing. The music is fast-paced and shredding and can attract mild thrashers.
“A Day to Come” is another slicing tune that deserves attention. If I had to compare Grefstad vocals to anyone I would say he’s a tastier version of Rick Sanford of LEGS DIAMOND.
Song after song you will be amazed how good these boys are; check out “No Way Home” and the melodic AOR smoothness that sets these boys apart from your typical metal band; they can do it all.
When you reach “Fallen Angel” you will be getting a treat of some great power metal that is one of the heaviest tunes on the disc, with some harsh overtones. Man, does Andreas "Toya" Johansson go off on this one. “The Deamon Within” is a complete change in style that brings a much heavier down tuning. Fast guitar, rolling drums and thunderous bass lines, if you’re into some potent music this is your tune.
“Oceans of Glory“ is the most pleasant tune with the chorus being an anthem kind of a sing-a-long that has some good pop. SAINT DEAMON end the record with “Fear in a Fragile Mind” and it is another anthem style tune that will be a killer live tune for audience participation. You just got to pick this one up.
