After reviewing TANGO DOWN’sIdentity Crisis” in 2012 which received 4.5 out of 5 stars (http://www.rockeyez.com/reviews/cd/tango-down/rev-2012-10-bmr-tango-down-identity-crisis-4-5.html) and seeing them at the Melodicrockfest III it solidified the thought in my mind that these guys are pure gold. Now they are back with a new release entitled “Charming Devil” on Kivel Records. I am sure once again the pressure is on to deliver another high intensity release so let’s see if they do.

The disc starts off with “Bad Reputation” and it is a pummeling song that releases the flow with soaring guitars by Scott Miller. Lead singer David Reece sounds spectacular with his seasoned voice that can hit the high notes with precision. The song is rounded out with superb background vocals to add depth to the track. The title track “Charming Devil” is up next and it really highlights drummer Keith Michaels and master bassist Ronnie Parkes. The song explores the melodic path to its fullest and Reece shines on all fronts.

“Tunnel Vision” has the perfect balance of power chords and soaring guitar work courtesy of Miller and the man himself should be given major props as a six-string entity, and along with Reece being a demi-god with the golden voice, TANGO DOWN really shines.

“Too Many Roads” brings a soft and sensitive side to TANGO DOWN. This semi-ballad sure would light the arenas up if we were living in that time. Reece is a total master and with the harmonies doing the perfect amount of justice this could be the one to break TANGO DOWN with notoriety if given the right circumstance.

Listening to “Change The World” you can feel TANGO DOWN is a complete band effort. All the members are hitting on all cylinders but for me when a band has killer background vocals and harmonies you can’t go wrong and TANGO DOWN knocks it out of the park on that front.

On “Heaven’s Falling” I feel some neck snapping is due on this one. I love Reece’s voice as it has those same elements as David Lee Roth in his prime; showing swagger with strong and powerful tone. The guitar tapping by Miller is phenomenal and sets the mood for yet another top-notch tune.

Jumping to “Tomorrow Never Comes”, which I feel is the strongest track on the disc with its massive feel and I think it’s a tune that could bring fans to their knees. Miller and Reece are huge but the backbone is Parkes and Michaels on this track. (Damn, I gotta listen to this one again. I’ll be back to the review in 4 minutes and one second!).

“I’m Done Loving You” shows that song after song TANGO DOWN is the total package because they can bring a melodic yet bluesy sound and they can also rip it out and with four high-profile musicians you get near perfection.

Ending the disc is a classic tune in “Nothing But Rain” and it really elevates TANGO DOWN even further. So many great tunes along the way and they end with one of the best. Now doubt “Charming Devil” should be added to your collection ASAP.

TANGO DOWN will be playing Live at the Melodic Rock Fest 4 in Arlington Heights, IL makes sure to stop by pick up their new disc at the Kivel Records booth and say hello to the guys.
