I have been anticipating the debut release of TOXICROSE since last year 2011 when they released a two track demo that we reviewed at RockEyez that got a perfect 5 /5 Stars
http://www.rockeyez.com/reviews/demo/toxicrose/rev-2012-03--bmr-toxicrose-toxicrose-5-0.html .
Well the wait is over their self-titled EP release with 5 spanking new tracks has made it's way to RockEyez. The disc was co-produced by Martin Sweet of CRASHDIET and will be released via City Of Lights Records (a division of Rock It Up Records). The disc starts off with "A Song For The Weak" that is also their first official video that you can check out at their official site. The song thrives on killer choruses and pummeling raw vocals by Andy TRX and with the hook filled lyrics it will set fire to the music world. You can't get much better than this with the subtle breaks and the masterful guitar work by Tom Wouda it will send chills down your spine.. Vocally Andy has touches of Dave Lepard CRASHDIET to his voice but also hold that edgy raw sound that draws you in.
"Set Me Free" is pure energy which brings the levels up a notch. It's all about the blends of power chords and harmonies that make TOXICROSE an entity. The songs are classic in the way they were written for an arena band and with the mix of lead guitar Tom Wouda and smashing drums by Michael TRX blows me away. "Follow Me" is haunting with the addition of keys that adds to the dimension of TOXICROSE. The range of vocal power by Andy should put TOXICROSE on a fast pace to stardom, the song has that guitar driven sound that JUDAS PRIEST possess. "Black Bile" adds even more versatility with the multiple genre changes from Sleaze, Metal, Goth and eighties rock. Loved the heavy keys mixing with the bass of Goran and the rolling drums of Michael Sweet. Tom Wouda' screaming guitar licks is like blood under the knuckles that is itching for attention.
Ending the disc is a heavy dose of in your face rock with "Fear Lingers On" ala PRIEST with a touch of sleaze. Just an amazing track with the harmonies and lead vocals.
The throttle is forward for TOXICROSE as they move into a higher standard. The elevation in the songs when TOXICROSE reaches the choruses brings the songs to life yet you have that sleaze touch with a heavier edge. Love this one and I hope fans support these guys. You're gonna LOVE EM!!!!! |
