With the world turning upside down these days there is one venue (music) that always brings pleasure to people and in Finland it’s no different. As new bands arrive you have to give them credit to even try taking a step in the world, especially as the music industry itself is turning upside down along with most everything else. JOLENE is a new project that started in 2010 coming out of Turku, Finland and they will try and jump the hurdle that lies ahead.

The band just released a new 4 track EP called “ Stalkers Have No Heart” and I’m here to tell what they are all about. The opening track “Stop A Minute” has that past styling of the ROLLING STONES musically, with vocalist Jani Vuorela having a rawness to his voice. Track two “Just Asking” really brings out different dimensions especially with the guitar work by Johnny Donson and Jani Vuorela. On track three, “Coming Down”, you can feel the STONES influences again fused with a taste of ERIC CLAPTON. I really like this tune and the smooth background vocals mixed with those shining guitar licks makes this a highlight track. Ending the disc is “Pearl Necklace”, which gives way to the midsection of bassist Ippe Nilsson and drummer Eric Harrison. It’s another special tune that shows these guys have what it takes to reach a higher level. I was very impressed with all four tracks, but “Coming Down” and “Pearl Necklace” are the jewels here! This band is certainly worth keeping an eye on for the future.
