As 2011 is coming to a close I really wasn’t planning to do many more reviews before the end of year but along came this CD by Italy’s WILD WET. Kinda of an unusual name but we do listen to every CD that comes in. First off I love the era of glam rock and these guys fit perfect in that genre plus the cover also has that “Parental Advisory” warning pasted on the front so that will help sales!

I really wasn’t sure how to take the tunes as the opening track “After I Came” is an instrumental and a good one at that. It starts off melodic with a flamenco flare ala GYPSY PISTOLEROS and runs into track two “Before You Die”. I really like the sound of these boys as vocally Daniel Crystal has elements of Dave Lepard (CRASHDIET) and any regular reader of RockEyez should know how I feel about Dave by now. Even with a slight Italian accent WILD WET bring on the power in the music. “What You Love” really brings a vibe of KISS meets MISS CRAZY as the hook driven tune would make for a killer live song and enjoyable to blast in your car.

Slowing things down a bit is the soft rocker “Crazy Little Star”. The soaring guitar licks by BlackJ adds that perfect touch that will make the fans go berserk. These guys are the total package and leave very little room for improvement. If you like the good old days of the 80’s-era glam this is a must for your collection. This is the kinda shit you gotta pump up like in the great era of KISS and songs like “Strutter”. Check out “Steamwheel” and tell me musically WILD WET is not influenced by KISS which is not a bad thing at all plus BlackJ really kicks it into high gear on this tune.

Changing gears, WILD WET hands the lead vocals over to Matt Nyx Frye on “Astray”. The song has a great melody and some smooth acoustic work. “Angels Airlines” can you say “Paradise City” GUNS N’ ROSES! Let’s pick it up with “Last Tattoo” a fast-paced tune with the midsection just blowing up as bassist Gwill Everett and drummer Matt Nyx Frye need to take a breath after this one.

Talk about diversity, “Wings of Summer” has some cool ivory work by Daniel Crystal and WILD WET really impressed me with the structure of this particular song not to mention the drums are amazing too.

Ending the disc is a haunting instrumental called Division 2.0, which is filled with tons of keys. Not sure it’s the best track to end with as it leaves fans wanting more. I guess it was to show the talented musicianship of Daniel Crystal.

All in all WILD WET really impressed me and fans of the genre should pick it up for sure.
